About Me

Hello!

My name is Emily Smith, and I’m an MLIS student at the University of South Florida, currently working as a Library Assistant II at the East Lake Community Library. I am on a path to become an Adult Librarian, driven by a passion for community service and a unique toolkit of creative skills.
My path to this field, however, began with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from the University of West Georgia. My expertise lies in hands-on artistic disciplines like photography, painting, fiber, and paper arts. My professional goal is to merge this background with my library science education to design and lead creative workshops and community outreach programs that not only meet practical needs but also spark curiosity and connection. I am excited to build a career that combines information guidance with the joy of creating a shared experience.

“Books give a soul to the Universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” – Plato
